Handy Home Checklist for the Summer: Scrape, prime, and paint any areas of the house that need repair. Wash exterior of the home. Check for signs of termites or other destructive insects. Check/change HVAC filter monthly. Check for mortar needing repair (chimney and fireplace). Clean carpets, wax tile, and hardwood flooring. Check concrete driveway, sidewalks, patios, and landings. Patch cracks, level or replace as needed. Check roof for signs of needed repair. Monthly To-Do List: Check/Replace HVAC, Furnace, and/or Electronic Filters Check visible wiring and cable for wear or damage. Check Ground Fault Circuit Interrupters (GFCIs) Check fire extinguishers. Test smoke and carbon monoxide alarms; replace batteries, if necessary. Run citrus peels or ice through garbage disposer. Run hot water and baking soda through drains. Clean faucet aerators & shower heads. Check/Replace all interior and exterior lighting/bulbs. Remove lint & debris from dryer exhaust hose & outside damper. Check hose for kinks.
